Ooh I’m so intrigued by The Only Good Indians! That sounds great - I had similar thoughts re killers - I read the book first and preferred that to the film by a country mile!! In the film wanted way less of Ernest the bastard and way more of Mollie and her community. So if that filled that hole for you I’m definitely going to track the book down.

I’m dying at your hunger games reactions hahahaha. Finnick dying is the great fictional character loss of all time, no questions asked. Every time I rewatch, even though I KNOW it’s coming, I bawl my eyes out. So glad you go fully invested in all Hunger Games lore. Nothing quite like it honestly - one of the best film franchises.

I’m waiting at the edge of my seat for the poor things post! I ordered the book the other day so hopefully I will have read it before the post comes out so I can absolutely sink my teeth into what you have to say.

You’ve just reminded me that I need to pick up the book of Killers of the Flower Moon because I’ve heard several people say the exact same thing about the book being miles better.

And omg yes… Finnick stole my heart the moment he popped up on my screen (I have a weakness for Sam Claflin) and his death genuinely rocked me. I nearly didn’t finish the franchise because I was so distraught 😭😭😭! I’m almost mad at myself for avoiding the movies for so long because younger me would’ve definitely had a blast when they were just newly coming out.

And on the topic of Poor Things… Oh, I can’t wait for you to read it. Even though you’ve seen the movie and already know where the story is going, I’m sure you’re going to appreciate how the author plays with form throughout the novel. It’s such a good use of metafiction imo.

Yess pick up the book! It’s a lot more rounded and tells the story of the Osage more rather than just the perspective of Ernest. It’s more journalistic and also talks about families outside mollie and talks more about ‘after’ the trial. It’s really interesting and definitely better than the film (sorry Scorsese).

Sam Claflin is SUCH a weakness for us all. At least you’ve found the films now! A forever gift 😉

I am very very interested to see how the book differs to the film. Knowing the storyline doesn’t detract from my excitement because I can look more intently at the details! I’m all about a compare and contrast.

Stephen Graham Jones is my favorite writer, I hope you’ll read more of him! Also check out Theodore Van Alst Jr for a similar vibe. Both of them excel at short stories too.
